Introduction to the Expatriate-izing Experience
What is it like to move to a different country, leaving the one that has been your "home" for your entire life? I don't know! But that is what I am doing, and here you'll be able to read about my experiences. (And I'm sure there will be plenty.)
My husband, Dan, is pursuing his MBA at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus Universtiy, in the Netherlands. He moved in September 2004, and after a few (lonely) months, I decided that it was time for me to join him. It looks more and more likely we will be staying in Europe...so why not be together to sort out our future??
Since the new year, I quit my job, moved out of my house, and drove 1100 miles cross-country to spend a bit of time with my family in Michigan. Dan's finishing his first semester right now in Holland, and I'm in northern Michigan adapting to (voluntary) unemployment! In just a few days, I will fly across the ocean to join my husband, and we'll begin our new life in Europe.
Let's see what is in store for us!
