The Market
In keeping with the currency theme, here are some prices for the fruit and vegetables (and dessert) on sale at the farmer's market. Bear in mind that 12.5 lei equals US$1 (or 1 lei = US 8 cents).
Cherries – 3-6 lei per kilo
Strawberries – 7-18 lei per kilo
Apples – 12 lei per kilo
Potatoes – 8 – 12 lei per kilo
Tomatoes – 6 – 15 lei per kilo
Squash – 12 lei per kilo
Beets – 10 lei per kilo
Cucumbers – 5 – 8 lei per kilo
Carrots – 12 lei per kilo, but they are too expensive right now, so we shouldn’t buy them!
Ice Cream Bar – 2.25 lei

In your profile, I saw that you moved to holland to "help with economic development in Eastern Europe." I was just curious on how you would go about doing that? Wow. That does seem "under-priced" (though what is a price but a local determination of value?), but then again, what's the per-capita income? What's bread and milk cost? What does a meal at McDonalds cost? Do Moldovans pay less, proportionately, for food and housing than Dutch or Americans?
If only there was someone with you who had a background in economics or finance...
